Ready to play ball

The kids are more than ready to play ball. Samantha was asked by her coach to try catching, so she donned the "tools of ignorance" and gave it a shot. It turns out that she likes it, and she certainly has the arm and smarts for the position (just like her old man, who started out as a catcher in his day). She looks good with the equipment on, no?

Jimmy likes the look of the gear, but he does not want to try catching. His team seems set at that position, so he'll just play where the coach needs him.

Parade day finally came! The boys walked about a mile to the field. Zachary broke ranks to give Mom a hug, watched by Mama, Zoi and Papa. Mom was very appreciative of the attention!

Jim gives a wave as his A's saunter by.

Zach catches up with his team. Notice how he and Jim are the rearguard for their respective teams...

The teams convened at the field for acknowledgement, announcements, and the Anthem. Jimmy pays good attention here in this photo of his team.

Zachary, however, chose to play in the dirt. In his defense, it looks like several of the other boys are observing and wanting to join in.

Both boys have their names on their jerseys - Jimmy's last and Zachary's first. It's a nice touch.

Ready to go!
