Elton John and Billy Joel

Terri is a big Billy Joel fan, so when she found out he was coming to Phoenix (with Elton John), she requested tickets, which she received for her birthday. Three months later, here they came.

It was a great show! First, they played about five or six songs together, on the stage with two pianos, alternating each other's songs. Then Elton John played a set with his band (about twelve to fifteen songs, including some fairly obscure classics). Billy Joel next played a set - also about 12-15 songs. Then, they got back together for the finale, which was 5-6 more songs. When they got together, there were several songs we had not heard that we wanted to, and they played them all. They ended with Candle in the Wind and then Piano Man.

We had a really good time. It was a good crowd, and the guys played all the songs we wanted to hear and more. Both singers sounded great, and their accompanying bands were top-notch. When we got there at 7:30, one of the ushers said we'd be there until 11:15 PM. That seemed like a long time, and sure enough, they did not play that long. They were done at 11:10! It was a good length of time.

We would love to see them again sometime - I believe they have been touring together for at least 15 years, so hopefully they will come around again.

Happy Birthday, sweetie!
